The bearing of the soul

Fulfilled with speculation within

one’s mind of purified thoughts

Complete, with the shredded memories

The edge of release is very near

I wish to be free, now and here

But I’m afraid to take the fall

To risk and jump, to lose it all

The change is mostly inside

Of me, of you

Asking of what

That is what we’re asking

Wondering if it’s what it is

Why?

A question usually asked

By anyone who’s ever had

A moment of reflection

A moment of deflection

I fell in line with your step

not knowing you were watching me.

It became so natural, so easeful,

to settle into your stride.

Sitting here this evening, I’ve felt the strong urge to revisit the poetry I’ve written over the years - particularly from 2010 through 2013. I was in my early 20s, going to university, working part-time, and most importantly, in a relationship with someone who suffered from depression (although I didn’t know it at the time). Eventually, his identity became my identity, and it was difficult to separate my thoughts, feelings, and emotions from his.

Although the final product of my art isn’t finished yet, the journey of its conception and creation is a significant part to where I’m at in my life right now, and deserves to be shared.

Let’s begin.

Welcome to the Emergence Diaries, a collection of my written art that I’ve created over the last 20 years (give or take), which will be shared in various formats such as journal entries, essays, reflections, and insights.
